Ridgeland had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Southeast Whitfield County Raiders 73-44. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won five in a row.

Leading Ridgeland to victory were Cornell Watkins and Jamarcus Lewis. Watkins dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards, while Lewis went 7-for-13 to rack up 14 points in addition to seven assists and six rebounds. Quinton Williams was another key player, shooting 63% from the field on his way to 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Coming up, Ridgeland will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Oakwood Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southeast Whitfield County, they have already played their next contest, a 64-45 defeat against Trion on the 15th.
