Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Aaron Mcglone and Johnie Griffin Lll Lead Southern Maryland Christian Academy to Victory

Southern Maryland Christian Academy's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They secured a 79-73 W over the King's Christian Academy Eagles. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 76-71 back in January.

Leading Southern Maryland Christian Academy to victory were Johnie Griffin Lll and Aaron McGlone. Griffin Lll almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards, while McGlone almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Griffin Lll a new career-high in points. Semaj Carter was another key player, putting up 14 points and five rebounds.

Southern Maryland Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cayden Williams, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 assists. Williams is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zymere Somerville, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards.

Southern Maryland Christian Academy's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 15-7. As for King's Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Maryland Christian Academy will face off against Takoma Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Southern Maryland Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.8 points per game this season. As for King's Christian Academy, they will take on Lanham Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lanham Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 17 games.
