Basketball Recap: Southwest Dekalb's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Southwest DeKalb entered their contest against Buford on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Southwest DeKalb Panthers fell just short of the Buford Wolves by a score of 48-45. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Southwest DeKalb lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Taron Essex, who posted seven points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Essex a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Burks, who earned 11 points and seven boards.

Southwest DeKalb's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-2. As for Buford, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.

Southwest DeKalb will head out to challenge St. Pius X Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwest DeKalb is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.1 points per game this season. As for Buford, they will square off against Calvary Day at 12:05 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Calvary Day's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests.
