The Westminster Wolves are taking a road trip to take on the George Washington Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Westminster is headed out to face George Washington after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Westminster's pitcher stepped up to hand Hinkley a 28-0 shutout on Thursday.
Robert Atencio made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Westminster let Michael Davidson and Diego Yanos run wild. Davidson went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs, while Yanos scored four runs and stole Four bases. while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave Yanos a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adrian Moreno, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Westminster always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .816. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hinkley only posted an OBP of .000.
Meanwhile, George Washington beat Denver South 7-4 on Saturday.
Luke Wiederholt and Diego Varela were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Wiederholt tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Varela struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. At the plate, Wiederholt scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Varela scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Henry Kuntner was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Rascoff, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Westminster suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to George Washington in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Westminster avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
