Brandon Woodard leads a balanced attack to beat Southern Maryland Christian Academy

Recap: Lanham Christian Lions vs. Southern Maryland Christian Academy Mustangs

Even though the Southern Maryland Christian Academy Mustangs scored an imposing 69 points on Monday, the Lanham Christian Lions still came out on top. Lanham Christian walked away with a 79-69 win over Southern Maryland Christian Academy. Given Lanham Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Southern Maryland Christian Academy is ranked 187th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lanham Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brandon Woodard out in front who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Tre Ray, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.

The win makes it two in a row for Lanham Christian and bumps their season record up to 12-2. As for Southern Maryland Christian Academy, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lanham Christian will take on Mt. Zion Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Southern Maryland Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Calverton at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th.
