Softball Game Preview: Elkhorn Elks vs. Burlington Demons

The Elkhorn Elks will square off against the Burlington Demons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Elkhorn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Elkhorn and Union Grove had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Elks fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 6-5 on Thursday. The Elks haven't had much luck with the Broncos recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Veronica Siegler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Marlee Wester made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ella Uhlenhake, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Burlington's offense. They fell just short of Turner by a score of 2-0 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Demons have suffered since May 14, 2024.

Elkhorn's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Burlington, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
