Football Recap: Corey Cook and Colton Petry Pace Poca Defense

Poca was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 22-18 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sissonville Indians. The Dots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Poca lost, don't look at Jackson McClanahan. Despite the final result, he picked up 91 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Even if they lost, Poca's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Corey Cook and Colton Petry, who racked up all five sacks between them.

Poca's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Sissonville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season.

Poca will head out on the road to take on Roane County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Dots' defense better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 44.4 points per game this season. As for Sissonville, they will face off against Lincoln County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 47.63 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
