Basketball Game Preview: Mauston Golden Eagles vs. Hillsboro Tigers

The Mauston Golden Eagles will square off against the Hillsboro Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mauston will head into Thursday's matchup after some sweet revenge against Wautoma: Mauston made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Wautoma, but still couldn't quite topple them. Mauston simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Wautoma 78-14. The Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Hillsboro came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-50 victory over the Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since November 19, 2024.

Hillsboro has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Mauston, their victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3.

Mauston strolled past Hillsboro when the teams last played back in November of 2023 by a score of 51-36. Will Mauston repeat their success, or does Hillsboro have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
