Basketball Recap: Champaign Central Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Grace Bandy and Alex Parastaran

Champaign Central was the 54-35 winner over Danville when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Champaign Central Maroons took a 47-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Danville Vikings.

Champaign Central's loss on Thursday came despite strong showings from Alex Parastaran and Grace Bandy. Parastaran posted 11 points and seven rebounds, while Bandy scored seven points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Bandy a new career-high in points.

Champaign Central has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season. As for Danville, their victory bumped their record up to 11-20.

While Champaign Central had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
