Softball Game Preview: Taylor Titans vs. Plymouth Pilgrims/Rockies

The Taylor Titans will head out to square off against the Plymouth Pilgrims/Rockies at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Taylor is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They lost 22-1 to Peru.

Taylor saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trinty Calvert, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plymouth). They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over Triton on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Pilgrims/Rockies in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won three in a row.

Aubrey Ferguson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. Ferguson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Plymouth let Haylee Busse and Lexi Pike run wild. Busse went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Pike scored two runs while going 1-for-2. That triple marked the first that Busse hit this season. Another player making a difference was Scianna Sellers, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Plymouth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Taylor's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Plymouth, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
