Softball Game Preview: Urbana Tigers vs. Westville Tigers

Urbana is 1-6 against Westville since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Urbana is taking a road trip to take on Westville at 4:30 p.m.

Urbana lost 11-1 to Villa Grove on Wednesday.

Lizzy Lange spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and eight unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Westville posted their closest win since May 4, 2024 on Saturday. They skirted past Robinson 8-7. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won three games in a row.

The team relied heavily on Laney Cook, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daylin Zaayer, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Westville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

Urbana's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Westville, their record now sits at 7-1.

Urbana suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Westville in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can Urbana avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
