Basketball Game Preview: Shelbyville Golden Bears vs. Seymour Owls

The Shelbyville Golden Bears are taking a road trip to square off against the Seymour Owls at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Shelbyville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.6 points per game this season.

Shelbyville will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Delta, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Shelbyville walked away with a 48-41 win over Delta on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Golden Bears.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shelbyville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mar Nicholson, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most boards Nicholson has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caden Claxton, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Seymour strolled past Christian Academy with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 41-26.

Seymour is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points over those games. Shelbyville's record is now 17-5.

Shelbyville came up short against Seymour in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 42-32. Can Shelbyville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
