Basketball Game Preview: New Home Leopards vs. New Deal Lions

The New Home Leopards will take on the New Deal Lions at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with New Home sitting on three straight victories and New Deal on four.

Last Friday, New Home strolled past Floydada with points to spare, taking the game 49-30. Given the Leopards' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Whirlwinds are ranked 639th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, New Deal hadn't done well against Floydada recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. New Deal secured a 54-50 W over Floydada.

New Home is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.9 points per game. As for New Deal, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.

New Home was able to grind out a solid victory over New Deal when the teams last played back in December of 2018, winning 40-33. Will New Home repeat their success, or does New Deal have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
