It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but St. Vincent-St. Mary ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Canton Central Catholic Crusaders 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Fighting Irish have posted since April 2nd.

St. Vincent-St. Mary's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Rylan Hurley, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another was Matthew Engelhart, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

St. Vincent-St. Mary's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Canton Central Catholic, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-4.

St. Vincent-St. Mary and Canton Central Catholic should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings.
