Preview: St. Michael's Crusaders vs. Regents Knights

St. Michael's has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The Regents Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but St. Michael's ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 28-21 win over St. Joseph.

St. Michael's can attribute much of their success to Diego Flores, who rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown, and Will Garcia, who rushed for 33 yards and two touchdowns.

St. Michael's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Leading the way was Ben Brophy and his 2.5 sacks.

Meanwhile, Regents entered their tilt with TMI-Episcopal with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Regents didn't even let TMI-Episcopal onto the board and left with a 57-0 win on Friday. Considering Regents has won seven matches by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Quinn Murphy continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 191 yards and five touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Murphy is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last nine games he's played. Another big playmaker for Regents was Blake Smith, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

St. Michael's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Regents, their victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1.

St. Michael's was dealt a bruising 34-0 loss at the hands of Regents in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Can St. Michael's avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
