Softball Recap: Dekalb County Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

DeKalb County won the last time they faced White County and things went their way on Thursday too. The Tigers put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 10-0 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Kora Kilgore was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Bryna Pelham and Zayleigh Bain did most of the damage at the plate: Pelham went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Bain went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Pelham a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tatum Young, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

DeKalb County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

DeKalb County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for White County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.

DeKalb County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-0 win against Upperman on the 22nd. As for White County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against Smith County on the 18th.
