Softball Recap: Escalon Cougars vs. Orestimba Warriors
Escalon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Orestimba Warriors. The Cougars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.
Madison Babasa was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Ariana Velasco was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
Even though they lost, Escalon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orestimba only posted a batting average of .286.
Escalon's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Orestimba, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-8.
Coincidentally, Escalon and Orestimba will both be playing Sonora the next time they take the field. Escalon will host Sonora at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Orestimba will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
