Baseball Recap: Monticello Finds Home Field Redemption Against Dove Creek

There's no place like home for Monticello, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the Dove Creek Bulldogs by a score of 5-1 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Buckaroo also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Triston Felix spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 20 Ks. Those 20 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cache Young, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Jackson Keyes was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Monticello's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Dove Creek, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Monticello beat the Bulldogs by a score of 13-3 later that day.
