Top-ranked Red Raiders haven't lost to an in-state opponent since 2019.

The 2023 high school football season in Hawaii kicks off this month and MaxPreps has your look at the state's top teams. Defending Division I Open champion Kahuku owns the No. 1 spot in the Preseason MaxPreps Top 25.

The Red Raiders have won 22 consecutive games against in-state opponents dating back to 2019. That includes a 20-0 victory over No. 2 Punahou (Honolulu) in the 2022 championship game. Kahuku outscored teams from Hawaii 444-84 last fall.

Seniors Hyrum Benjamin-Moors (6-1, 270, DL, committed to Washington State) and Filiva'a Saluni (6-5, 270, OL, seven FBS offers) are among Kahuku's top prospects heading into 2023.

In addition to Kahuku, other defending state champions include Konawaena (Kealakekua) in Division I and Waimea in Division II.

Rankings are computer-generated, factoring in past results and adjustments such as returners and statistical date when available.
