Baseball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Palm Beach Central's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

After losing to Boca Raton the last time they met, Palm Beach Central decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Broncos sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Bobcats on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Broncos have won by just one run.

Charlie Houd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Palm Beach Central let Zach Pollock and Andres Lopes run wild. Pollock scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Lopes scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Palm Beach Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Boca Raton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-18.

Looking ahead, Palm Beach Central will host Park Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Broncos 3.4, the Cobras 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Boca Raton, they will head out on the road to face off against Royal Palm Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.64 runs per game on average), something the Bobcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
