Volleyball Recap: Gustine Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jaclynn Lopez and Adamaris Sierra

Gustine lost against Stone Ridge Christian back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Reds fell just short of the Knights by a score of 3-2. While the Reds didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Knights 25-20 in the first set.

Gustine started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 21-25, 25-12, 25-13, 15-8.

Gustine's loss came despite strong showings from Adamaris Sierra and Jaclynn Lopez. Sierra had 11 kills, nine digs, and three aces, while Lopez had eight kills, seven digs, and two aces. Lopez is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least five every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kimberly Ramirez, who had four aces.

Gustine has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Stone Ridge Christian, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Gustine will face off against rival Le Grand at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Stone Ridge Christian is set to take on their familiar foe Waterford at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
