Volleyball Recap: Highlands Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Joshua Esch and Brandon Lee

Highlands Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Deerfield Beach Bucks, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bucks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in March.

While Highlands Christian ultimately came up short, they really made Deerfield Beach work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 26-24, 25-23.

Highlands Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Brandon Lee and Joshua Esch. Lee had six kills, two aces, and one block, while Esch had four blocks. Lee is on a roll when it comes to aces, as he's now served two or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Highlands Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Deerfield Beach, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Highlands Christian will welcome Horeb Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Deerfield Beach, they will head out to square off against Coral Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
