Soccer Game Preview: Wakeland vs. Lovejoy

The Wakeland Wolverines will challenge the Lovejoy Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wakeland is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Wakeland is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Belton by a score of 3-1. Given Wakeland's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Belton are ranked 97th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lovejoy kept a clean sheet against Midlothian Heritage on Friday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Jaguars. Lovejoy's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last six games.

Wakeland pushed their record up to 22-0-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Lovejoy, their victory bumped their record up to 21-1-1.

Everything went Wakeland's way against Lovejoy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Wakeland made off with a 4-0 win. Does Wakeland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lovejoy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
