Baseball Game Preview: Mountain View Mavericks vs. Boise Brave

Mountain View has gone 9-1 against Boise recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mavericks will host the Brave at 6:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Friday, Mountain View needed a bit of extra time to put away Timberline. They had just enough and edged out the Wolves 2-1. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Mavericks have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Davey Green spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has become a key player for Mountain View: the team is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Carson Lupton was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cade Burnham, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Boise lost 13-1 to Middleton on Friday. The Brave haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Boise saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Tommack, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Boise's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Mountain View, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.

Everything went Mountain View's way against Boise in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Mountain View made off with an 11-0 win. Will the Mavericks repeat their success, or do the Brave have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
