Baseball Recap: Hoover Comes Up Short

Hoover had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-19 to make it ten. They fell 5-1 to the Lincoln Hornets. The Cardinals lost against the Hornets in their previous head to head back in May of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 27-0 score last time.

Hoover saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jason Sanchez, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Lincoln, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games.

On Lincoln's side, the team relied heavily on Julio Ojeda, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

While Hoover had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
