Basketball Recap: Wildwood Takes a Loss

If Wildwood was feeling good fresh off their 70-46 takedown of New Roads last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildwood Wolves fell 53-40 to the Geffen Academy Bruins on Monday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 74-38 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Wildwood still got an impressive performance from Matthew Ardell, who posted 17 points and five boards. Bowden Eley was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Wildwood was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Geffen Academy only posted three assists.

Nathan M was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 12 boards for Geffen Academy. M is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least 11 every time he's taken the court this season.

Wildwood's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Geffen Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wildwood will welcome Lennox Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Wildwood is facing Lennox Academy at the right time seeing as Lennox Academy is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Geffen Academy, they will host Rolling Hills Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rolling Hills Prep will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Geffen Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
