Basketball Game Preview: Warsaw W Warriors vs. Orrville Red Riders

The Warsaw W Warriors will take on the Orrville Red Riders in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Warsaw W has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Orrville will arrive with three straight wins.

Warsaw W is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Gospel Haven Academy on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Warsaw W was beaten by Gospel Haven Academy 71-30. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-16.

Despite the loss, Warsaw W had strong showings from Cyrus Deeds, who went 6 of 10 en route to 12 points and five rebounds, and Cohen Deeds, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, Orrville was able to grind out a solid victory over Waynedale on Saturday, taking the game 66-58. Given the Red Riders' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Golden Bears are ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Orrville's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Warsaw W, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
