Baseball Game Preview: Cranford Cougars vs. Middletown South Eagles

The Cranford Cougars will square off against the Middletown South Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

While Cranford's victory against Bayonne wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars skirted past the Bees 3-2. The win was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on three straight.

Cranford's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Fry, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, it was close, but last Thursday Middletown South sidestepped Wall Township for a 9-7 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Cranford pushed their record up to 13-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. As for Middletown South, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

Everything went Cranford's way against Middletown South when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Cranford made off with a 10-4 victory. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
