Volleyball Game Preview: Arlington Spy Ponders vs. Woburn Memorial Tanners

The Arlington Spy Ponders will square off against the Woburn Memorial Tanners at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, Arlington earned a 3-1 victory over Westford Academy.

Meanwhile, Woburn Memorial had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged out Belmont 3-2 on Tuesday.

Woburn Memorial was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-15, 19-25, 25-13, 15-8.

Arlington better keep an eye on Mateo Qirjazi. He was instrumental in Woburn Memorial's win, getting 43 assists and two aces. Those 43 assists gave Qirjazi a new career-high.

Woburn Memorial's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-3. As for Arlington, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Arlington couldn't quite get it done against Woburn Memorial in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Spy Ponders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
