Recap: Westlake Wolverines vs. La Plata Warriors
The Westlake Wolverines had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They snuck past La Plata with a 46-42 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Westlake also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Darian Canty continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Darius Kemper, who scored nine points.
Westlake is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. As for La Plata, they dropped their record down to 6-14 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westlake will take on St. Charles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Westlake will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while St. Charles is ranked 34th). As for La Plata, they will be playing at home against Chopticon at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Chopticon knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully La Plata likes a good challenge.
