Softball Game Preview: Davis Sr. Blue Devils vs. McClatchy Lions

The Davis Sr. Blue Devils will head out to face off against the McClatchy Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McClatchy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Davis Sr., who comes in off a win.

Davis Sr. is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Franklin on Monday. The Blue Devils came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats, sneaking past 7-5. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

Davis Sr. let Madison Hunter and Gracie Martinez run wild. Hunter went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Martinez got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Martinez has posted since back in March of 2025. Sofia Lester also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Davis Sr. kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, McClatchy was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They fell just short of Folsom by a score of 4-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.

McClatchy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeneyse Morales, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Having lost for the first time this season, McClatchy fell to 2-1. As for Davis Sr., their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
