Basketball Recap: Lake Placid Bombers vs. Wells Wells CSD
Lake Placid lost against Wells back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Lake Placid Bombers fell 52-40 to the Wells Wells CSD. While losing is never fun, the Bombers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 815th, while the Wells CSD are ranked 404th).

Despite the loss, Lake Placid still got an impressive performance from Seb Cecunjanin, who posted 23 points in addition to six boards and six steals. Cecunjanin is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last nine games he's played.
Wells' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Evan Mutz, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Hunter Passmore was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 15 boards.
This is the second loss in a row for Lake Placid and nudges their season record down to 2-12. As for Wells, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.
Lake Placid wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 65-58 victory against Indian Lake Central/Long Lake Central on the 31st. As for Wells, they will be playing at home against Bolton Central at 6:30 p.m. on February 4th. Bolton Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Wells likes a good challenge.
