Softball Recap: Washington Union Panthers vs. Exeter Monarchs
Washington Union was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell just short of the Exeter Monarchs by a score of 8-6. Quinn Scheidt was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Scheidt was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Grenelei Finderup was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last three games she's played. Andrea Sconiers was another key contributor, going 3-for-4 with an RBI.
On Exeter's side, Chloe Sparrow spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Rylie Williams was incredible, going 4-for-4 with a triple, a run, and a double. Another player making a difference was Avery Hupp, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
