Baseball Recap: Ceres Comes Up Short

Ceres extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 15-6 in the process. They lost 9-1 to the Central Valley Hawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since February 11th.

Ceres saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Maines, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Central Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games.

On Central Valley's side, they got a great performance from Nicholas Dominguez as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Dominguez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ezequiel Verduzco was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Andre Flores was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Ceres didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 12-1 victory against Modesto Christian on the 21st. As for Central Valley, they have also already played their next contest, a 5-3 win against Los Banos on the 22nd.
