League recap: Hinsdale Central propelled into state Top 25 after victory

Hinsdale Central was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Lyons 24-20. The Red Devils came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 44 last week.

Glenbard West extended the longest winning streak in West Suburban - Silver this week by beating Oak Park-River Forest, 49-0. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.

Hinsdale Central's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brian Owens threw for 236 and two touchdowns and Chase Hamilton had 84 yards receiving. On the ground Jack Adams chipped in 138 yards. John Claussen helped Hinsdale Central's passing attack out by catching three balls for 54 yards.

Hinsdale Central's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Red Devils feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Owens has thrown for 1105 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Ian Bunting has 16 catches for 412 yards. Adams leads the league in rushing with 596 yards.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Glenbard West takes on Proviso West. Chad Hetlet's team has allowed 44 points this season, while the Panthers have given up 34. The Hilltoppers allowed 0 points last week as they beat the Huskies.

Proviso West was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, Famous Hulbert's team defeated York 14-0.
