Basketball Recap: Spring Creek Takes a Loss

Spring Creek lost against Goldsboro back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Spring Creek Gators were beaten by the Goldsboro Cougars 83-40. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Spring Creek's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brennan Chambers, who posted eight points and 11 boards. Chambers is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Nathan Jackson was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Maurice Tyler was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds for Goldsboro. Goldsboro is 3-1 when Tyler posts eight or more boards, but 7-9 otherwise. Antonio Holloman also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Spring Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Goldsboro, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-10.

Spring Creek has already played their next contest, a 70-59 win against Princeton on the 7th. As for Goldsboro, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 62-33 victory against North Johnston on the 7th.
