Rio Vista takes loss despite strong efforts from Addy Halvorson and Shiloh Johnson

The Rio Vista Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They lost to Italy on the road by a decisive 41-26 margin. Rio Vista has not had much luck with Italy recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Shiloh Johnson and Addy Halvorson certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Johnson scored ten points along with eight rebounds, while Halvorson scored six points. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played.

Italy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landry Janek, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Amyriah Johnson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.

Rio Vista has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-23 record this season. As for Italy, their win bumped their record up to 10-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rio Vista's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hamilton at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hamilton will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Italy, they will head out on the road to face off against Frost at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Frost presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Italy in Texas (Frost is ranked 408th, while Italy is ranked 1090th).
