Softball Game Preview: Conway Tigers vs. St. James Sharks

Conway is 0-10 against St. James since March of 2021 but things could change on Monday. Conway will take on St. James at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Conway 3.7, St. James 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Conway's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Myrtle Beach. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Seahawks: they've now won six in a row.

Olivia Drew made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on McKenzie Rabon, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Addison Fogle, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Conway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Myrtle Beach only posted a batting average of .043.

Meanwhile, St. James won against Carolina Forest on Wednesday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. St. James beat Carolina Forest by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-3. The victory was nothing new for the Sharks as they're now sitting on six straight.

St. James pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Conway, their record is now 9-4.
