Baseball Recap: South Fork Cubs vs. Eureka Loggers
South Fork extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 7-17. They lost 6-0 to the Eureka Loggers. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Cubs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
As for Eureka, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games.
For Eureka's part, Brayden Bermers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Bermers has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Scotty Brogan was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Matt Pleasant was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.
As of now, neither South Fork nor Eureka have any future games scheduled.
