Softball Recap: Morenci Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Morenci won the last time they faced Chandler Prep and things went their way on Monday too. The Wildcats never let the Titans get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Wildcats have won eight games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Cameryn Woodall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tiara Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Mayeli Salazar was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Morenci always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .524 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Morenci's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-11. As for Chandler Prep, the loss snapped their winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 13-4 record.

Morenci and Chandler Prep should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings. The Wildcats (ranked 112th) will meet San Miguel (ranked 251st) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Chandler Prep will take on Leading Edge Academy - GEC at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (104 vs. 211).
