Softball Game Preview: Butte Central Catholic Maroons vs. Beaverhead County Beavers

The Butte Central Catholic Maroons will challenge the Beaverhead County Beavers at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Butte Central Catholic has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with six straight defeats, while Beaverhead County will come in with three straight victories.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Butte Central Catholic's offense. They lost 10-0 to Stevensville last Tuesday.

Meanwhile, while Beaverhead County put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Corvallis. The Beavers blew past the Blue Devils 16-0. While the Beavers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-4), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Beaverhead County got a massive performance out of Kylie Konen, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run marked the first that Konen has launched this season. Tyler Gibson was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Beaverhead County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Beaverhead County's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Butte Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Butte Central Catholic took their win against Beaverhead County in their previous matchup back in May of 2016 by a conclusive 13-3 score. Do the Maroons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Beavers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
