Volleyball Recap: Pleasant Grove Vikings vs. American Fork Cavemen

Pleasant Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the American Fork Cavemen. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cavemen earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-17, 21-25, 25-12.

Leading American Fork to victory were Jackson Mecham and Jarett Santiago. Mecham had 12 digs and three aces, while Santiago had 14 digs and one block. Those 12 digs gave Mecham a new career-high. Joao Machado also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Pleasant Grove's loss dropped their record down to 12-15. As for American Fork, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-14.

Looking ahead, Pleasant Grove will welcome Bountiful at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The RedHawks will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight. As for American Fork, they are taking a road trip to face off against Lehi at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
