Football Recap: Plainville Beats East Catholic for Their Fourth Straight Win

Plainville gave up the first points on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against the East Catholic Eagles by a score of 31-24. Winning may never get old, but the Blue Devils sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Plainville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joel Hernandez led the charge by rushing for 100 yards and one touchdown. Hernandez has become a key player for the Blue Devils: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 2-3 otherwise. Plainville also got help from Yhosman Moffi, who showed off his sure hands for 88 receiving yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Plainville's defense and their five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Christian Giuliano and Nick Serrano, who racked up four sacks between them. Serrano also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six.

Plainville's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for East Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After each having a week off, Plainville and Farmington will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for East Catholic, they will take on Northwest Catholic at 10:30 a.m. on the 27th.
