With the playoffs underway, it shouldn't be a shocker to learn that this has been a helter-skelter week in the power rankings. The action included a dizzyingly high 113-point combined score from Southern Nash and Eastern Alamance.
Can't Touch This
Even though Southern Nash was bested by Eastern Alamance 57 - 56 last week, Southern Nash's junior Quinton Cooley played one heck of a game. He rushed for 413 yards and four touchdowns. That performance landed Cooley among the top power-ranked players for the week.

The battle between Cardinal Gibbons (ranked 31st in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Scotland (ranked 43rd) turned out to be a fierce competition. Cardinal Gibbons and Scotland were almost perfectly matched up, but Cardinal Gibbons suffered an agonizing 7 - 6 defeat. Cardinal Gibbons slipped five spots in the power rankings as a result of the loss.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
The Tarboro offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. The final score between it and South Stanly was a 62 - 6 blowout in Tarboro's favor. The MaxPreps rankings were spot on as they projected Tarboro as the clear winner. With 12 consecutive wins, Tarboro boasts the longest winning streak of any team in the rankings.
Movin on Up
Terry Sanford will have a better view of things this week after its strong showing last week propelled it 11 spots up the power rankings. That was the biggest rise of the week. It had a great defensive game, holding Rocky Mount to zero points to set up the 30 - 0 win. No one had a larger role in the success than senior Leonard Mosley, who brought his A game into the contest. He ran for 145 yards and also punched in three touchdowns.
