Baseball Game Preview: Peters Township Indians vs. Upper St. Clair Panthers

Peters Township and Upper St. Clair are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Indians will welcome the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Peters Township's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Upper St. Clair's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Peters Township and Bethel Park, and Peters Township kept the tradition alive. The Indians walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Black Hawks on Wednesday.

Zach Miner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on James Tygard, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Jackson Stocker was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Peters Township was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Upper St. Clair, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over South Fayette on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Upper St. Clair has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Peters Township, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
