Softball Recap: Nekoosa Papermakers vs. Neillsville/Granton Warriors
With a playoff game on the line, Nekoosa rose to the challenge on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Neillsville/Granton Warriors as they made off with an 11-1 win. The victory was some much needed relief for Nekoosa as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
Jackie Beadell spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Nekoosa got a big performance out of Aubrey Boerboom, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Danni Smith, who went 1-for-4 with a home run.
Nekoosa's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Neillsville/Granton, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-14.
