Softball Game Preview: McGill-Toolen Yellowjackets vs. Spanish Fort Toros

McGill-Toolen is 1-9 against Spanish Fort since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Yellowjackets will head out to face off against the Toros at 3:00 p.m.

McGill-Toolen is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They fell 10-7 to Davidson.

Presley Barber made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with three runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Cara Morrow, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Spanish Fort is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Wakulla. The Toros had just enough and edged out the War Eagles 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Toros.

Cayden Dorger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Spanish Fort's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Anne Thomas Luke, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Spanish Fort's win bumped their record up to 34-10. As for McGill-Toolen, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-17-2.

McGill-Toolen suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Spanish Fort when the teams last played on April 2nd. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
