Basketball Game Preview: Coastal Christian Centurions vs. Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes

Coastal Christian is 0-10 against Cape Fear Academy since January of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Coastal Christian Centurions will welcome the Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Coastal Christian took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Arendell Parrott Academy 55-32. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Centurions' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 465th, while the Patriots are ranked 213th).

Coastal Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noah Anderson led the charge by putting up 14 points. The dominant performance gave Anderson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Martin, who posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, Cape Fear Academy waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 59-46 win over the Panthers.

Cape Fear Academy pushed their record up to 12-11 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Coastal Christian, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-14.

Coastal Christian came up short against Cape Fear Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 46-37. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Cape Fear Academy's Kareem Anderson, who went 10 of 17 en route to 24 points.
