Recap: Ponaganset Chieftains vs. La Salle Academy Rams
On Monday, the Ponaganset Chieftains faced the La Salle Academy Rams in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Ponaganset came out on top against La Salle Academy by a score of 50-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Ponaganset.
Jaina Yekelchik continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with five rebounds and three steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Doolittle, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Ponaganset has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for La Salle Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ponaganset will take on Portsmouth at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Portsmouth focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Monday. As for La Salle Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Barrington at 7:00 p.m. Barrington is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
