The Eau Gallie Commodores are taking a road trip to challenge the Spruce Creek Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Eau Gallie: 2.9, Spruce Creek: 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Eau Gallie proved they can win big on Monday (they won by seven) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Viera 5-4.
Isabel (Izzy) Gambill made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Hannah Leech was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Gabriella Barrera was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Spruce Creek came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Seminoles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted against the Seminoles since March 28, 2017.
Aubrey Yeary tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 5.2 innings pitched. She also put up two walks, which were her first of the season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alexis Minaberry, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Reese Cianciarulo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Eau Gallie pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Spruce Creek, their record is now 4-1.
Both Eau Gallie and Spruce Creek just can't seem to miss. Eau Gallie has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Spruce Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.6 hits.
